Apply to an open call
The Open Calls tab is a tracker for everything you're applying to — open calls, residencies, prizes, fellowships, funding applications — plus a head start on writing the proposal.
Add a call
- Open the Open Calls tab and click + New Open Call.
- Paste the listing — a URL or the text of the call — and click parse. 1BURO reads the name,
organiser, deadline and eligibility and fills the fields for you to check.
- Or enter it by hand if you'd rather.
The deadline you set shows up on your Overview dashboard so nothing sneaks past you.
Draft the proposal
Open a call and you'll see the proposal sections. For any section:
- Click Draft. 1BURO writes a first pass using your CV and the works you've selected, tailored to
this specific call and its eligibility.
- Read it, keep what works, rewrite the rest. Click Redraft to try again — it's a starting point,
not a submission.
Need the proposal in another language? Use Translate to convert the sections.
Attach a portfolio
Most calls want images. Build a portfolio of the exact works you're submitting (see Share a portfolio) — a call-specific selection keeps its own order, so the works land in the sequence you intend.
Track the outcome
Update the call's status as you go so the tab stays an honest picture of what's out, what's in and what's closed.
